On August 9, 2006 WHO TV reported, "Iowans of different faiths are gathering tonight to pray for peace in the Middle East. Anyone is welcome to attend the interfaith prayer gathering, hosted by the Des Moines Area Ecumenical Committee for Peace. It's at 7:30 tonight at Muto Gardens, between the Botanical center and the river. Organizers say they plan an atmosphere of quiet and music, to send thoughts of hope and light to all people who live in war-torn areas. They suggest you bring blankets or lawn chairs."
