The cliche says love is blind.

Sometimes, religion is the eye-opener that can tear a relationship apart.

Latonia Roland of Blacklick saw that happen with two of her friends - a Muslim man and his Christian wife.

They were in love, Roland said, and didn' ;t talk about the potential conflicts that could arise from their dissimilar faiths until after they wed.

The marriage soon fell apart.

"When it came down to it, they couldn't reconcile," she said.

Roland, a single Christian, uses their experience as a cautionary tale in her own life, she said.

The troubles and triumphs of interfaith marriage were discussed yesterday during a forum presented by the Interfaith Association of Central Ohio. Roland attended the session in the Main Library of the Columbus Metropolitan Library Downtown.
