The congregants came from diverse traditions, but spoke in unison of common purpose.
“From many lands and many traditions we come together to sing a new song,” the Rev. Clint Mitchell said, leading those gathered earlier this month at the Beth Shalom Synagogue.
“In many tongues we will sing a new song to the one we know by many names,” responded members of the Interfaith Federation of Greater Baton Rouge — Muslims, Jews, Christians, Buddhists and Hindus.
Federation members plan to come together again during the next several weeks for the common purpose of addressing poverty in the community.
