Whirling dervishes and a hot meal. Hard to beat that pair.

Those are two of the attractions at a fundraising event Feb. 9 at the overflow shelter at the Baptist Church on Main Street. There will also be a benefit concert that day to help the area's homeless shelter and the Brattleboro Area Drop In Center raise money for their operations.

But before that, on Jan. 30, the Drop In Center and Morningside Shelter will be taking part in the Point in Time census to count the number of homeless and those at risk of becoming homeless in the community. They will also be counting people at the overflow shelter.

The organizations are asking the homeless and those who might be at risk of becoming homeless, to stop in.
