On July 27, 2004 The Oklahoman reported that "A year ago, [Emmah Eastwind] helped organize the Deep Root Community Center, a nonprofit organization whose goal is to shelter groups that embrace spiritual beliefs outside the mainstream in Oklahoma. The Deep Root umbrella covers practitioners of holistic health, metaphysical organizations and assorted pagan groups, including Sekhet-Bast-Ra Lodge of the Ordo Templi Orientis, followers of a religion known as Thelema whose methods and practices are called 'magick'... For now, the groups are gypsies, meeting wherever they can, often in members' homes. That could change if Deep Root can drum up enough money at a 12-hour drum marathon Saturday at the KOA-East Campgrounds, 6200 S Choctaw Road. Money will be raised through pledges and donations."
