On October 9, 2004 The Oregonian reported, "The Wholistic Peace Institute, led by Gary Alan Spanovich, is behind the evening that promises to use at least three languages: words to challenge people's minds, music to speak to their hearts, and food and conversation to satisfy their souls. The topic for the evening will be peace in the Middle East, and the experts will be six Portland religious leaders, all of whom have been engaged for some time in such dialogues. By opening up their conversation they hope others will join in, reflecting dialogues that have been unfolding within Christian, Jewish, Muslim and Buddhist congregations, among friends and between strangers, Spanovich says."
