Nisa Ismayilova always dreamed of sitting down for an informal dinner and fellowship with people whose religious beliefs differed from her own Muslim faith.

The Islamic woman’s dream became reality when she participated in a recent Amazing Faiths dinner dialogue at Phil and Cathy Busey’s northwest Oklahoma City home.

Ismayilova and her husband, Rashad, were among more than 100 Oklahomans who participated in the Amazing Faiths project Nov. 13. The Buseys served as hosts of one of eight dinners held across the metro area. Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists and people with other beliefs attended the dinners.

"I think it was amazing because I have met other people from other places and other religions, but I’ve never talked with them,” Nisa Ismayilova said. "They shared their feelings, and you see that you have common things with people.”

Amazing Faiths began in 2007 in Houston and was developed by the Boniuk Center for Religious Tolerance at Rice University and Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston. It is designed to bring together people of different faiths for an informal evening of fellowship, dinner and interfaith dialogue.
