The value of a pluralistic nation was discussed at the seventh annual Interfaith Day of Prayer and Reflection forum Thursday at Emanuel Synagogue.

About 40 people attended the event that has been held on the south steps of the state Capitol in previous years.

The forum was sponsored by the Interfaith Alliance Foundation of Oklahoma as a way to emphasize the diversity of religions in Oklahoma, the Rev. Jeff Hamilton, alliance president, said Thursday.

Hamilton said the program also is a way to celebrate religious liberty in America.

"Sometimes the National Day of Prayer is seen as just a Christian event and even an event for a segment of the Christian community,” he said.

"We want to remind everyone that we have this pluralism in Oklahoma and in our country and it’s good.”
