On June 23, 2004 The Plain Dealer reported the recent events of the interfaith conference "Stand Against Hate" held in Cleveland to engage cultural and religious sensitivity. "There were 12 presentations Tuesday at the third annual conference, which focused on the public's misunderstandings and misconceptions about certain cultures and religions. Presenters included representatives of immigrant, Arab and gay groups.
The conference, held at the Galleria and Tower at Erieview, started in 2002 in response to the 9/11 attacks and the fear of ensuing hate crimes."
