On July 11, 2003 The Columbus Dispatch reported that "visitors from north and south of the border will salve some local wounds when they come to Columbus for a gathering of many faiths... In an act of support, several participants at next month's conference of the North American Interfaith Network plan to plant a tree and do landscape work at the Islamic Center on E. Broad Street, which was vandalized in December 2001... They also will be made aware of more recent assaults on different religious institutions, including last week's spray-painting of anti-religion messages at two Jewish temples, the Columbus Jewish Federation building and a Roman Catholic assisted-living facility... About 4,000 people from throughout Canada, Mexico and the United States are expected to attend NAINConnect Aug. 9-12 at Ohio State University."
