On November 9, 2004 US Newswire reported, "Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, and Unitarian Universalist leaders affiliated with the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice (RCRC) today agreed with the growing consensus that the presidential election was decided by issues such as war, terrorism and jobs, not unspecified 'moral values,' and that social and political conservatives had a minor role in the election. They said that the religious progressive movement is being renewed, spurred in part by the rejection of divisiveness... Gathering at the National Press Club in Washington DC to discuss 'Moral Values for the Next Four Years,' the religious leaders agreed that the nation is being misled by questionable interpretations of exit poll results. No views or values changed because of the election. On one of the supposed hot-button issues, abortion, the percent of Americans in both parties who support reproductive choice in some or most cases remained steady."
