On August 14, 2003 Catholic News Service reported that "Bruce Netter and Sofian Abdelaziz are working together. Netter, a Jew, is manager of disaster relief services for Catholic Charities of the Miami Archdiocese. Sofian, a Palestinian, is director and counselor of the Miami-based American Muslim Association of North America... Netter described Citizen Corps as 'a national initiative to coordinate, on a community by community basis, the training of citizens to prepare, respond and recover from disasters of any type. And to also assist the police in making the neighborhood safe against crime.'"
