On March 24, 2003 The Interfaith Alliance provided several statements concerning the war in Iraq. Rev. Dr. C. Welton Gaddy, President of the Interfaith Alliance stated, "though all people of faith and good will agree on the centrality of peace as a core religious value, significant differences arise regarding the most effective strategies for peacemaking in a time of war.In our thoughts about the war and our attitudes toward each other, we will do well to remember a comment from Mahatma Gandhi, 'It is for those who are custodians of a great faith to show that patriotism based on hatred killeth, but that patriotism based on love giveth life...'"
