On March 12, 2004 icNorthernIreland reported, "Sharada Bhat has lived in Northern Ireland since leaving her native India 25 years ago and says the best way to cut out racism is to educate young people about different cultures. The Belfast Indian Community Centre representative was in Antrim yesterday to talk to students as part of an ethnic awareness day. Sharada said: 'Northern Ireland is a multi-cultural society, so it's very important to have events like this...if people understand different cultures, it makes it easier for everyone to get along.' Sharada told students from the North East Institute of Further Education about the Hindu religion and family values and answered questions on arranged marriages."
