A Muslim girl suffering from thalassemia in Bihar has found a new lease of life after three officials of a central paramilitary force, belonging to the Hindu, Sikh and Christian communities, gave her blood.

In a shining example of cross-religion solidarity to save thalassemia patient Danishwar Jahan, 12, who lives in Kishanganj district, about 300 km from here, three officials of the Border Security Force (BSF) with different religious beliefs donated blood to her Monday.

"The three BSF officials donated blood for her transfusion and pledged to donate blood for her regularly," Tanweer Alam of Alam Nursing Home in Kishanganj told IANS over telephone.
