What if somebody built a mosque and nobody cared? No, not the so-called Ground Zero mosque in New York. The mosque in question is in the small Indian town of Ayodhya, in northern Uttar Pradesh state. Six decades ago the mosque became the subject of a contentious lawsuit. The conflict sparked some of the most vicious riots in modern Indian history and the mosque was torn down. Yet now, with a verdict in the lawsuit over ownership of the former mosque's site due this week—yes, it has taken 60 years—not many seem to care. This lack of interest is a sign of progress for India.
