On April 22, 2004 The Pioneer Press reported, "Area teens will have a chance to meet and work with teenagers of other faiths Sunday when they take part in the National Day of Youth Service. The event, sponsored by the Interfaith Youth Corps, will bring together teenagers in 20 cities including an estimated 400 in the Chicago area. As part of the day's activities they will take part in service projects throughout the Chicago area working in social service agencies and immigrant- and refugee-based programs. The Interfaith Youth Corps, based in Chicago, is an international nonprofit organization that brings together youth from different faiths to take part in community service projects and share their religious beliefs and traditions. Among the teenagers participating in Sunday's National Day of Youth will be students from the Muslim Education Center and Chicagoland Jewish High School in Morton Grove, Temple Beth Israel in Skokie, the Jewish Reconstructionist Congregation in Evanston and Loyola Academy in Wilmette."
