Nothing says sharing and fellowship like breaking bread together. That’s what Mayor Bill White would like to see happen at suppertime in 100 Houston homes on Nov. 15 as part of this year’s Amazing Faiths Dinner Dialogues.

Kicking off a citywide initiative to bring together people of diverse faith traditions and cultural backgrounds, to learn about one another through dialogue and fellowship, Mayor White described the dinner dialogues as an example of a “bottom-up” way for people to meet and learn. He launched the initiative after being disturbed at the conflict-centered way mass media characterized faith communities. In contrast, the mayor noted the positive ways diverse faith communities in Houston mobilized money and manpower after Hurricane Katrina.
