The Evacuee Property Trust Board (EPTB), the government body maintaining properties of minorities, especially Hindus, in Pakistan, reportedly plans to convert a pond which had been used by Hindus since Partition as a sacred place to bathe, into a commercial plaza.

In another controversial case a couple of months ago, the land mafia in Lahore had tried to encroach upon the land belonging to the Sri Krishna Temple and construct a commercial plaza there.

The case was highlighted both in Indian and Pakistani media, after which Leader of Opposition and BJP president LK Advani raised the matter with the Pakistan government.

The matter is said to be lying pending now before the Pakistan government. The Board on August 17 published an advertisement in a local newspaper inviting bids from contractors for the construction of a 12-storey plaza on Warris Road opposite a (girls) hostel of the Fatima Jinnah Medical College (FJMC).
