The floor, walls and people inside a Grayslake storage facility were painted pink Sunday.
And red and purple and blue.
The group was celebrating Holi, a popular Hindu festival that takes place over two days in late February or early March to celebrate spring.
In northern India, the first day of Holi is celebrated with a bonfire to signify the burning of Holika. On the second day, known as Dhulandi, people throw colored powder and water at one another.
"When I was a little girl in Bombay, we all looked forward to this all year," said Vasu Choksi, a program coordinator with the Indian Cultural Association. "I remember we would go out on the veranda and shoot people with water guns."
