On April 18, 2005 Asian News International reported, "Sikhs and Hindus from Pakistan's Sindh province have asked Pakistan Railways to launch an express train service between Karachi and Lahore via Khanewal, Shorkot and Nankana Sahib. Sikhs and Hindus have said that just like Pakistan Railways was running a train 'Baba Farid Express' between Lahore and Karachi covering Kasur and Pakpattan to help Muslim pilgrims visit the shrines of Baba Bullah Shah and Baba Farid Shakar Gunj in Kasur and Pakpattan, similarly a train service from Karachi to Lahore via Nankana Sahib should be run for Sikh and Hindu pilgrims, reports the Daily Times. Sardar Sassat Singh, Dev Singh and Krishan Singh, all from Sindh, ho visited Nankana Sahib for partaking in the Baisakhi celebrations, said that Hindu and Sikh pilgrims will be immensely benefited if the Pakistan Railways starts the service.
