On June 30, 2005 Fiji ONE News reported, "Another Hindu temple has been desecrated by thugs, with damage estimated at around five thousand dollars. The Waila Prem Mandali in Nausori was broken into by a group of men who ransacked and destroyed religious items. This Waila mandali has been here for about 50 years with no history of break ins until now... Thieves gained entry into the mandali from the back window, cutting through burglar bars, the three louvers blades were also removed and stolen. Inside, religious items were ransacked, and destroyed, one of the worship idol and 200 dollars cash has been stolen. Among other items reported stolen is a gas cylinder, musical items, and a three burner gas stove. This latest incident adds to the long list of Hindu temples which have been ransacked."
