On March 18, 2005 the Sun Sentinel reported, "Hindu Heritage Month in February, [is] designed to educate people as to what it means to be Hindu. The temple draws from Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties, with a high concentration from Davie, Miramar, Weston and Plantation. The daandiya-raas is a dance typically done during the Navaratri Festival, which takes place in India every fall. The festival calls for followers to gain spiritual knowledge by worshiping three forms of the mother goddess: known as Durga, Lakshmi, and Saraswati. Followers celebrate the triumph of the goddesses over evil. Hindus worship different aspects of the same God, according to Neha Shah, co-chairwoman of the temple's Hindu Heritage Month activities."
