In an effort to increase its membership, the Hindu American Foundation — a Maryland-based political advocacy organization whose goal is to spearhead the interests of Hindus in the United States — held its first meeting in Boston on February 24.

About 13 Indian Americans attended the three-hour meeting, and many filled out membership cards and made monetary donations — but more people were apparently expected to show up, judging from the amount of rice, vegetable curry, samosas and drinks the organizers brought. Less than half of the food was eaten at the conclusion of the meeting.
