On September 22, 2005 The International News reported, "The 466th death anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikh religion, will be observed at Gurdawara Darbar Sahib, 19 km away from Narowal on Sept 22. Sikh pilgrims have already started pouring in from the four corners of the world to pay homage to the great saint buried here in two different forms - a grave for Muslim devotees and a Samadhi for Hindu and Sikh pilgrims... The restoration and renovation work at Kartarpur Gurdawara is still under way out of funds of Rs 6 million provided by the government of Pakistan and Sikh community. The building has been repainted in white with dome in sharp pink. Gobind Singh, a Pakistani Sikh, manages the Gurdawara as its 'Saivadar.'"
