A sign of the growing Indian population in Southwest Georgia, a Hindu congregation wants to build a place to worship in Albany. A group of Hindus appeared at the Dougherty County Commission meeting Monday.
They want to build a Mandir, that's a worship center, on Cordele Road. The nearest one is in Perry. Another is in Atlanta. Navin Patel says the growing Indian population here needs a place to gather.
