On March 8, 2004 The Statesman Journal reported, "Several events in Salem will mark the second annual Gather the Women week, including talks, music and dance. On Sunday, more than 50 people gathered to kick off the week with presentations from activists, business owners and religious leaders. The local events are a few of the hundreds unfolding around the world this week to honor the role of women in social change. The second annual gathering coincides with the United Nation’s International Women’s Day, which is celebrated today... Sikh Siri Kirpal Kaur Khalsa, founder of an interfaith group called Oneness Coalition, spoke Sunday about how activism can unfold in Salem. She came up with the idea for an interfaith coalition when she saw a need for interfaith services. Then, she worked together with a group to make it happen." One of the week's events is "A Day of Gratitude", when women of diverse faiths will speak including the Rev. Mary Tiwari, the Rev. Gail McDougle, Sikh Siri Kirpal Kaur Khalsa, Chaplain Karuna Thompson."
