LIVERPOOL funeral director Steve Nicholls has performed the first ceremony in a new venture aimed at the Sikh, Hindu and Muslim communities.
Last year the ECHO revealed his plan for a specialist service with a Midlands business partner. Last month they flew to India with the cremated remains of his partner’s mother, who had recently passed away.
Steve, who trained with Liverpool funeral director W Craven, arranged and conducted the funeral in consultation with Sikh elders.
After a day-long ceremony he visited the Golden Temple in Amritsar to scatter the ashes on the water of another nearby temple.
He said: “I was overwhelmed by the openness and friendliness of all I met and was amazed at the co-operation received, as we had a film crew in tow recording all aspects of the two days.”
