A Hindu temple and adjoining Indian cultural center may still be under construction, but just off the 71 Freeway the ornately carved red Burmese teak that graces a large reception hall represents a sign of things to come.
The first phase of work on the religious and cultural center - which will be the location of a Hindu temple complex - is nearing completion at 15100 Fairfield Ranch Road.
The developer - Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanastha, or BAPS - is waiting for the city's OK to begin construction of the 10,000-square-foot temple as well as a surrounding spiritual walkway and fountain area.
In the meantime, the Indian community is looking forward to being able to visit the facility, BAPS spokesman Kal Mistry said.
