Fifty Scholars from 25 Countries to Attend Conference on Women's Rights in Islam

On July 12, 2006 the Islamic Republic News Agency reported, "Fifty scholars from 25 countries throughout the world will participate in the International Conference on Women's Rights and Responsibilities in the Islamic System slated for July 15-16 in Tehran. Iran-based World Assembly for Proximity of Islamic Sects in cooperation with the Center for Women and Family Affairs have organized the international conference. Scholars from Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Syria, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Egypt, Thailand, Kosovo and Palestine are going to attend the two-day conference which aims to prepare the grounds for better communication among distinguished women from the world of Islam. The conference also aims to present Islamic views on women's issues, rights and responsibilities."
