On November 12, 2004 The Courier Journal reported, "Archbishop Michael Fitzgerald met with more than 200 high school and college students at Bellarmine University. It was one of several talks he is giving this week as part of Louisville's annual Festival of Faiths, which focuses on building cooperation between religions. Fitzgerald, a native of England, is president of the Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Dialogue at the Vatican. He advises Pope John Paul II on relations between religions, and he helps foster the church's goal of improving those relations."
