Across illegally installed on land in La Quinta has prompted federal officials to issue a warning to residents that open space isn't a blank canvas for anyone to do as they please.
The 8-foot-tall white, wooden cross erected on the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument was removed twice by representatives of the Bureau of Land Management in less than a month after they received complaints about the religious symbol.
