It was the power of prayer that unified these five faith traditions.

Baha'is, Buddhists, Christians, Jews and Muslims alike joined in prayer and mutual understanding to celebrate the National Day of Prayer on May 6.

"We can find differences all day, every day," said Rev. Terry Keenan, senior minister at The Santa Anita Church. "(National Day of Prayer) lets us all come together as one family."

Under one roof at The Santa Anita Church in Arcadia, members of each faith embraced the doctrines of another at the only interfaith observance in San Gabriel Valley.

Participants from more than 12 religious institutions in Arcadia, Hacienda Heights, Monrovia, Pasadena and other parts of Los Angeles County congregated at the church to share their beliefs and practices, helping each other realize the commonalities among them.
