On October 7, 2003 Connecticut Post reported that Sikhs in Fairfield Connecticut are visiting police in order to educate them on the Sikh religion and prevent the possibility of future violent attacks against Sikhs wearing turbans. Kaur and Pamma Singh Gulati have founded a training program in which they not only illuminate the peaceful doctrines of the Sikh Faith, but teach police officers how to interact with Sikhs. One lesson is on ways of asking Sikh men to remove turbans in private rooms, so as not to cause offense. "There is a fear on your part and there is a fear on our part," Kaur said to the police officers. "We need to understand each other."
