Members of Evansville's Hindu Temple have donated $11,000 to the American Red Cross for relief efforts in Haiti.
"The Indian community has been moved by the pain and suffering we've seen in Haiti," said K.C. Jain, the temple's president.
"In India, the sufferings are not new. We have earthquakes. We have tsunamis. We have floods. It doesn't matter wherever it happens, we all get together and contribute in the name of community and humanity to help people who need food, water, shelter and medication."
The donation was announced Tuesday at a news conference at the American Red Cross.
