In a world of ever-increasing violence, Muslim Mothers Against Violence (MMAV) was founded at the Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati to stand up for and to collaborate with others in not just condemning but also taking action against violence through sponsorship of peaceful methods of resolving differences.

Teaching these concepts and engaging our youth in the promotion of peace over violence are essential goals that are intricately tied to all of our hopes for a better future.

This difficult work cannot be done in isolation.

So when the Islamic Center and members of MMAV were approached by the Greater Cincinnati Advocates for Darfur to host an interfaith prayer, and also to collaborate on future programs for improving the violent situation in the Darfur region of Sudan, it was a no-brainer.

The Greater Cincinnati Advocates for Darfur is an interfaith alliance composed of Jews, Christians, Muslims as well as other people of conscience who are not only devastated by the loss of innocent lives in Darfur, Sudan but are taking meaningful actions to promote positive change.
