On November 15, 2004 Journal Sentinel reported, "an estimated 5,000 Muslims gathered Sunday morning for communal prayers inside the Midwest Airlines Center to begin celebrating the Eid al-Fitr, or 'festival of fast breaking,' which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan...That was a record crowd, and it started a day of firsts. Instead of going to homes or restaurants to dine with extended family members and friends, about 300 people sustained a sense of community togetherness by attending a brunch organized by the Islamic Society of Milwaukee at the Clarion Hotel. And later Sunday, many Muslim families went to The Times Cinema on Milwaukee's west side to see screenings of 'Muhammad: The Last Prophet,' a 90-minute animated feature."
