At least 50 people were arrested in Egypt on Thursday for demonstrating against the suspected rehousing in their villages of people thought to be from the Bahai religion, a security official said.
In April, all the Bahais from the southern village of Sharoniyah fled their homes after neighbours set fire to four of their homes.
"Three days ago, rumours began circulating about the resettling of the Sharoniyah Bahais in Ezba," another village in the southern province of Sohag, the official said.
