On April 14, 2005 The Indian Express reported, "A Hindu temple, likely to be the largest outside India, will be constructed in Holland with an estimated cost of Rs 4.20 bn. The Maa Chandi Foundation, working for Hindu culture in the Netherlands, has undertaken the task of erecting the 'largest mandir outside India' in the province of Zuid-Holand. 'We are currently negotiating with several municipalities on the location,' said a spokesman of Maa Chandi. 'Our preference is for somewhere between Rotterdam and The Hague,' the spokesman told the Netherlands news agency ANP. The amount of 75 million Euro is to be raised chiefly through organization of large-scale events in places like the Amsterdam Arena, home ground for Amsterdam football club Ajax."
