On December 1, 2004 Yahoo! News posted a press release from U.S. Newswire that reported, "For the first time ever, a coalition of Washington area synagogues, churches, and community organizations has joined forces to raise money and build public support for the men, women and children now suffering in Sudan's Darfur region. 'Stop the Genocide: Drumming and Voices for Peace and Justice in Darfur, Sudan,' spearheaded by Adat Shalom Reconstructionist Congregation and Turner Memorial AME Church, is a multimedia event that will feature Sudanese human rights activist Omer Ismail, musical performances, professional drumming with audience participation, and a presentation of photographs and testimony from Darfur. Contributions will go to support humanitarian relief work being conducted in Darfur by the American Jewish World Service and Doctors Without Borders."
