On February 1, 2002, the St. Petersburg Times featured an article on Unity Day at Chaberlain High School in Tampa, Florida. The Unity Day program was "a joint effort of Chamberlain's human relations department and facilitators from the National Conference for Community and Justice... The National Conference seeks to promote understanding and respect among diverse populations... [The] program was based on the National Council's Anytown Leadership Experience, which each summer brings diverse groups of teens together for a week to promote understanding and break down prejudices... 'In the summer program we challenge them to take the message back to their schools,' said facilitator LaShante Keys. 'Today we are challenging them to take the message to the rest of the student body.'"
