On March 21, 2004 The Times of India reported, "From Monday, Britain begins a unique experiment in immigration history. It begins to build a memory bank for its Hindu citizens, estimated three years ago to a total of 559,000. So, nearly £ 90,000 will be spent to collect fading memories, fickle of Britain’s first-generation Hindu community. These will form the first-ever permanent record of their cultural and historical life. Indeed, it might also be the first such sizeable database recording the travails of a large and successful Hindu immigrant community outside India. It will be stored in the Hindu Archive at the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies."
