On May 22, 2006 Independent Online reported, "Tibet's exiled leader, the Dalai Lama, will honour South African Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu and comic book character Tintin for promoting understanding of his homeland at a ceremony in Brussels next month, an official at the Buddhist leader's office in the northern Indian town of Dharamshala said on Sunday. The annual Light Of Truth award, instituted by the International Campaign for Tibet (ICT), is given to individuals and institutions that have made significant contributions to the public understanding of Tibet. The Dalai Lama is scheduled to present the award at a ceremony on June 1 to Tutu and the Herge Foundation, a non-profit association created in memory of the Belgian creator of Tintin whose real name was Georges Remi."
