Cooking with Faith; Diverse Religious Communities Unite to Provide Dinners for Needy

On Sunday afternoon, when a lot of guys are watching sports on television, Gord Markle is washing a pot in a church basement.

His friend, Yvonne Wright, is peeking into the oven to check the chicken and looking over her shoulder is her friend, Glen Gordon.

Another gentleman is whipping up a Caesar salad and Gord's wife, Marilyn, is flitting from one room to another, making sure everything is in order.

"We're going to have a lot of food today," Marilyn Markle said. "We've got some sweet and sour chicken on the go and, at 4 p.m., some members of the Sikh community are coming by with some food.
