On July 13, 2003 Inland Valley Daily Bulletin reported that "the Planning Commission [of Chino Hills, CA] will review the plans for the proposed Hindu temple again Tuesday after the issue was continued from the June 17 meeting... The hearing was continued after city staff told commission members they could not take action on the project until the city's code on the height of towers was cleared... The city staff is expected to recommend to a code amendment change that would allow for church steeples up to 80 feet high in all zones, said Jeff Collier, community development director... Before the first public hearing, city staff misinterpreted that church and institutional zones are allowed to have towers up to 80 feet high. But only institutional zones are allowed to have such high towers, officials said."
