On May 16, 2005 the Post-Gazette reported, "a few months ago, when a handful of conservative parents first came together over their shared concern about the new sex-ed program in Montgomery County, Md., no one expected much to happen. But the parents were determined to try to change what they saw as the program's bias towards homosexuals. They created a formal group, Citizens for a Responsible Curriculum (CRC) and persuaded more than 3,000 other parents to sign a petition against the new curriculum, which allows teachers to initiate discussions about homosexuality in the eighth grade, and show a video about how to put on a condom in the 10th grade. Joining with another group, the Virginia-based Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays, CRC members also filed a lawsuit in federal court. In addition to charging that the program presented a one-sided view of homosexuality, the two groups argued that it showed favoritism towards certain religious groups' views of gays."
