On April 7, 2004 United States Conference of Catholic Bishops reported, "Thirteen Catholic bishops participated in a specially designed three-day program for bishops on Islam and Catholic-Muslim relations, March 15-18, 2004. The second of three such institutes, sponsored by the Subcommittee on Interreligious Dialogue of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), took place at Vallombrosa Center, Menlo Park, California. Special funding for these institutes has been provided by Catholic Near East Welfare Association. The Raskob Foundation for Catholic Activities provided a supplementary grant for this institute in 2004. Facilitating this year's program were Archbishop Michael L. Fitzgerald, M. Afr., President of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, Professor Scott Alexander, Chair of Islam and Christian-Muslim relations at Catholic Theological Union, Chicago, and Dr. John Borelli, Special Assistant to the President and Director for Interreligious Initiatives at Georgetown University."
