Leaders, representatives, and children of various religious organizations from throughout Metro Detroit gathered on Thanksgiving Eve to give thanks and to cultivate friendships.
The 20th annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Celebration was held at University Presbyterian Church in Rochester Hills, Mich.
Representatives from the Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, Native American and Baha'i faiths organized a formal, universal prayer service followed by a gathering in the Church's Fellowship Hall.
The event is organized and attended each year by a close-knit core group of interfaith activists and religious leaders.
"I have absolutely loved being at interfaith events. And this is one of the reasons right here," said Claude Jacobs, director of the Pluralism Project at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, with his arm around Eid Alawan, Interfaith Coordinator at the Islamic Center of America.
