On October 16, 2004 The Republic reported on the Rev. Shanta D. Premawardhana's meeting with members of the city's Interfaith Forum. Premawardhana is a leader in interfaith work in the Chicago area. He spoke with the Forum on bridging divisions: "From a Christian perspective, interfaith relations are an acknowledgement that God created many different races and religions, he said. Premawardhana believes God's will can be found in the wisdom of the Buddha, the writings of the Koran, and the teachings of the Bhagavad-Gita without reducing the stature of Jesus and the Bible."
