REDBRIDGE is home to the most religiously diverse council ward in the whole of the UK, new figures have revealed.

Clayhall topped the poll thanks to its above-average number of residents from different religions - including Buddhist, Hindu and Jewish as well as Christian.

Ward councillor Ronnie Barden said: "I was very pleased when I found out. There's a lot of worry about religious extremism now, so I think it's important to report good news like this.

"All the different religions get on very well in Clayhall and we have a faiths forum which I have attended."

The figures issued by the government's Office for National Statistics were calculated on the chance that two people drawn at random would be from different religious groups.
